Congress Vs. Big Tech: The Next Round

We’ve written about this before, but it seems the only thing Congress can agree on is its dislike of big tech. There have been various proposals regarding how more government oversight can be put in place regarding how tech companies share user data and handle privacy.

The latest salvo comes from Republican Senator Josh Hawley — who has been as vocal a critic of big tech as many of his counterparts on the other side of the aisle. This week, the Missouri congressman proposed a regulatory overhaul of the Federal Trade Commission to make it operate within the Justice Department, with the idea being that it would be easier to pursue antitrust cases against tech companies.

Hawley, of course, joins many Democrats in calling for greater oversight of big tech.
