Goldman Finally Releases a Marcus App
/In some news that you may have overlooked recently, Goldman Sachs this month finally released a mobile app for its fintech service, Marcus.
Marcus was rolled out in 2016 and was the gilded, venerable investment bank’s first foray into consumer financial services. It began offering consumer loans but eventually expanded into deposit accounts as well.
Goldman has, of course, ventured further down this consumer-focused path in recent years, such as with its partnership with Apple on the Apple Card.
You may be forgiven for thinking that Marcus already had a mobile app, given that the service is frequently touted in the finance and fintech press as being a success story for Goldman when it comes to digital services. But apparently the bank has spent these past few years perfecting the app and envisioning it as being a digital “storefront” for the bank.
According to an interview with American Banker, Marcus’s head of product said the bank “took the time to do both qualitative and quantitative research with literally thousands of prospects and existing customers to define what the Marcus app should be.”
Well see where Marcus goes from here, but actually having a mobile app is a welcome, if a bit belated, development.
