Shopify’s payment option Shop Pay now available on Facebook, Instagram
/E-commerce and omnichannel business platform Shopify is integrating its payment button Shop Pay with Facebook and Instagram, allowing all Shopify merchants to offer it on their Facebook and Instagram stores.
Why should we care?
Shop Pay’s selling point is the convenience factor, because it allows a consumer to save their payment information within it once and for all, eliminating the need to need to manually add it each time. It’s a tool that the company says encourages customer conversion and minimizes abandoned transactions. According to Shopify, Shop Pay converts 190% better on mobile than alternatives, and it takes a traditional checkout field — anywhere from 16 to 22 pieces of information — and converts that to a one-click process. The integration with Facebook and Instagram is the first time Shop Pay will be available outside of Shopify’s platform. Prior to the integration, customers would have to manually enter credit or debit card information when paying on Facebook or Instagram, or use PayPal. “Making Shop Pay available outside of Shopify for the first time means even more shoppers can use the fastest and best checkout on the Internet,” Carl Rivera, general manager of the Shop product group at Shopify, said in a statement. “We’ll continue to work with Facebook to bring a number of Shopify services and products to these platforms to make social selling so much better.”
