Fidelity launches digital assets analytics solution for institutional investors

Fidelity is delving deeper into digital assets, and to do that, it’s rolling out an analytics offering called Sherlock to help its institutional investor clients monitor the performance of their digital assets.

Why should we care?
Fidelity Digital Assets provides institutional solutions for custody, trading, and investments. The launch of a digital assets analytics solution speaks to the degree to which Fidelity is prioritizing digital assets as the takeup for them grows. Fidelity’s institutional investors include hedge funds, family offices, registered investment advisers, pension funds, endowments, foundations, and corporate treasury departments. Fidelity Digital Assets, which obtained a charter from the New York State Department of Financial Services in 2019, said that by December 2020, its client base quadrupled compared to the prior year. With Sherlock, clients have access to data about development ecosystems, network activity, trading, social media activity, news and other research on digital assets from institutional data providers. “A major challenge when researching the crypto markets today is piecing together information from a myriad of resources,” said Kinjal Shah, a senior associate at Blockchain Capital LLC. “Sherlock helps us research more efficiently by giving us access to holistic, timely data, which is crucial in this fast-paced market.”
