Real estate investment startup Cadre launches savings account with 3% interest

Cadre, a 6-year-old startup that lets clients invest in real estate, is rolling out a savings account that offers 3% interest up to the amount clients have invested in their real estate portfolios.

Why should we care?
Cadre joins the ranks of fintechs that started out as investing platforms and expanded into banking. The move is a play to keep customers on the platform and grow their assets. Cadre operates alongside other real estate investment platforms, including Fundrise and YieldStreet. The company, which has a $3B real estate portfolio, says it uses AI and machine learning to assess which properties will perform well. Cadre, which laid off staff and pulled back on investments in the beginning of the pandemic, is now in growth mode, CEO Ryan Williams told CNN. The company is reportedly valued at $800M. Cadre was founded by Josh Kushner, brother of senior White House adviser Jared Kushner, who is reportedly in the process of finalizing the sale of his $50M stake in the company.
