Data centers traditionally have been housed on premises, where businesses and large organizations could keep tabs on everything and feel like they had full control over their infrastructure. But long rows of on-site server racks are quickly becoming a thing of the past, and soon could disappear altogether.
As cloud technology becomes more sophisticated and cost effective, more companies are looking to house their data infrastructure there. In fact, InformationWeek reports that by 2022, 75% of all databases will be deployed or migrated to a cloud platform. It’s just another example of the changing nature of IT and tech in general.
