State Street this week took another dip into the world of crypto and blockchain as it announced a partnership with Gemini Trust, the cryptocurrency exchange and custodian founded by the Winklevoss twins. 

The trial project will examine a reporting process for cryptocurrencies that are held in Gemini’s custody service, with the ultimate goal being to allow investors to consolidate the reporting of digital assets stored at Gemini with traditional assets serviced by State Street. 

Venerable State Street, one of the oldest financial institutions in America, has been active in recent years experimenting with digital assets as well as blockchain, and released a report this month which found that asset managers are bullish on both technologies.
