At this point, is anyone even shocked when another massive data breach gets reported in the news? As a populace, we have become desensitized to it, sadly.  So when news that a hacker had gotten ahold of some 100 million Capital One accounts it was unfortunately not that surprising. 

Listen, we can sympathize with what banks face when it comes to cyber attacks. Financial services firms are constantly under attack; we spoke with an Ernst & Young security analyst a few years ago who said the public would be “shocked” if they knew how frequently banks are fending off hackers. 

Still, something must be done, and firms as large as Capital One should have the security infrastructure in place to prevent massive hacks like this from happening.
